On November 25, 2022, all interested people could finally look over the shoulders of the numerous Jena scientists and ask their questions about research. After a break of three years, the Long Night of Science could finally take place in Jena again.
It started at 5 pm: The opening of the 8th Long Night of Science took place this time at the Beutenberg Campus and fascinated young and old by the topic 'science'. Our Technology and Innovation Park, the home of SpectroNet, recorded over 1500 visitors that evening.
Afterwards (6 p.m.) and then even until midnight, numerous partners, e.g. the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences Jena, the Beutenberg Campus Jena e. V., the University Hospital Jena as well as the research-related Jena business enterprises - first and foremost Carl Zeiss in Jena, Jenoptik AG and Schott in Jena - invited to almost countless exciting and varied program items.
There were experiments, lectures, presentations, hands-on activities and guided tours waiting for the whole family and definitely took everyone into the multifaceted world of science as well as the latest inventions and discoveries "Made in Jena". With the admission tickets (approx. 10 euros), the public transport could also be used free of charge to reach the locations, which were spread across the city.
This year, some of the institutes at the Beutenberg Campus are celebrating the 25th or 30th anniversary of their existence - a good reason to focus on the research landscape at the Beutenberg Campus! With about 3,500 employees from more than 80 nations, research is conducted here in nine institutes, two business incubators and a biotechnology-oriented company around the motto "Life Science meets Physics" and the development of new products is driven forward. On the occasion of the Long Night of Science Jena, all guests have the opportunity to enter into an exciting dialog with the scientists.
