At SpectroNet, we strongly believe that innovation in photonics and imaging thrives when theory meets real-world practice. That is why we are happy to share an exciting upcoming hands-on training opportunity from our partner network Bayern Photonics, hosted directly on-site at our valued cluster partner Opto GmbH.
On April 16, 2026, Bayern Photonics will conduct the practical seminar “Camera Systems and Detectors” in Neuried, near Munich. This one-day intensive course is designed to take participants on a journey from the fundamentals of detector and camera technology all the way to high-precision applications in industry, medicine, research, aerospace, and defence.
The seminar will take place at Opto GmbH, Floriansbogen 2/4, 82061 Neuried, offering an ideal environment to explore modern imaging technologies in a professional industrial setting. With only 15 places available, the course provides a focused learning atmosphere and plenty of opportunity for direct interaction and discussion.
Participants can look forward to expert instruction by Dirk Viehmann, a specialist in detector and camera technologies, as well as a guest contribution by Sebastian Seuferling from Gigahertz Optik GmbH, who will provide valuable insights into the technical fundamentals of calibration.
What makes this seminar particularly attractive is its strong practical orientation. Over the course of the day, attendees will gain both deep technical knowledge and hands-on experience, covering topics such as sensor types and physical principles, image processing basics, consumer and everyday camera applications, and the key criteria for selecting the right camera system for specific use cases. The programme also dives into medical imaging in diagnostics and therapy, specialised requirements for military and aviation applications, and industrial use cases such as quality inspection, process monitoring, and automation.
A major highlight will be the hands-on testing session, where participants can try out technologies themselves and deepen their understanding through practical exercises. After 5:00 PM, interested attendees will also have the opportunity to join an exclusive guided tour through Opto GmbH, offering additional insight into real industrial development and production environments.
Another unique feature of this course is its flexibility: participants with specific topics or wishes can request individual focus areas, provided they register at least four weeks before the seminar begins.
The seminar is especially suited for developers, users, and sales professionals working with camera systems, making it a valuable opportunity for anyone involved in imaging, photonics, or detector-based applications.
The participation fee starts at €702.10 (incl. VAT), with reduced member pricing available.
With a strong mix of expert knowledge, practical experience, and direct networking within the photonics community, this seminar is an excellent chance to expand your skills and connect with professionals across the field.
We encourage everyone in the SpectroNet community to take advantage of this outstanding training opportunity. Places are still available—so don’t wait too long to register!
