LMI Technologies presents Gocator® 2D Smart Cameras

As a strong innovation network, Spectronet thrives on partners who push industrial technologies forward with real, deployable solutions. With LMI Technologies, we are proud to collaborate with a cluster partner that continues to redefine what modern machine vision can be. The launch of the new Gocator® 2D Smart Cameras is a perfect example of how LMI translates cutting-edge technology into practical value for manufacturing.

With Gocator 2D, LMI introduces a new generation of industrial 2D vision systems that combine fast imaging, powerful on-device processing based on NVIDIA Jetson™ Orin NX, edge-native AI, and rapid deployment in a single, robust device. Designed for the realities of industrial environments, these smart cameras deliver high-performance inspection without the complexity of external PCs or reliance on cloud connectivity. No PC. No cloud. No compromises.

Built on the proven Gocator® Smart Platform and powered by GoPxL® vision inspection software, the Gocator 2D Smart Cameras enable reliable 2D inspections fully on the edge. Browser-based drag-and-drop workflows allow users to design, validate, and deploy inspections within hours instead of weeks—without writing a single line of code. This dramatically accelerates commissioning, reduces total cost of ownership, and ensures precise real-time inspection performance directly on the production line.

From a hardware perspective, Gocator 2D integrates camera, processor, and vision software into a compact, IP67-rated industrial housing. Global shutter models with 5 MP and 12 MP resolutions achieve up to 84 frames per second with latency below 10 milliseconds, making them ideal for high-speed applications. On-device AI and rule-based vision tools run side by side, supporting tasks such as defect detection, measurement, OCR, color inspection, barcode reading, and traceability. Native support for EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus, and MQTT ensures seamless integration into modern automation and PLC environments.

At the heart of the system is GoPxL, LMI’s unified vision platform. Its intuitive, browser-based interface empowers users to combine AI with established vision tools, perform live debugging, and adapt workflows quickly as requirements evolve. For advanced users and system integrators, the platform remains open and extensible, supporting Python scripting and custom workflows—without sacrificing ease of use for standard applications. One device. One platform. Ready to run.

Scalability is another key strength that resonates strongly with Spectronet’s focus on sustainable industrial innovation. Gocator 2D Smart Cameras are optimized for single-camera applications and small multi-station setups, where PC-based systems often introduce unnecessary cost, maintenance, and cybersecurity risks. As inspection demands grow, GoPxL allows inspection logic and AI workflows to be seamlessly transferred to new devices. For users already working with Gocator® 3D Smart Sensors, 2D and 3D inspections can be unified on a single platform with a shared user interface, data model, and job files.

With Gocator 2D, LMI sets a new standard for industrial 2D vision: a fully integrated, industrial-grade system that simplifies integration, accelerates deployment, and lowers long-term costs. A perpetual licensing model and independence from cloud services make it a reliable investment for long-term industrial use.

As Mark Radford, CEO of LMI Technologies, puts it: customers want precise inspection results at full line speed—without the complexity of PC-based systems. By combining high-speed imaging, edge-native AI, and an intuitive drag-and-drop software environment in one rugged device, LMI delivers a true all-in-one 2D vision solution that scales effortlessly across production environments.

The Gocator® 2D Smart Cameras are available now and are supported by a comprehensive ecosystem of certified industrial accessories, including lenses, lighting, cables, power supplies, and mounting hardware—enabling complete, ready-to-deploy inspection solutions. Backed by TKH Vision, LMI once again demonstrates why it is a valuable and forward-looking partner within the Spectronet network, driving intelligent, scalable, and industry-ready vision technologies into the future.
