At SpectroNet, we are delighted to celebrate the remarkable achievement of our member Quantum Optics Jena GmbH, which has earned an independent certification for its entangled photon-pair source from INRiM – Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica in Italy.
This milestone is more than just a technical validation—it’s a strong signal of trust and maturity in the rapidly evolving field of quantum communication. Certification by a respected national metrology institute like INRiM provides an essential layer of credibility for quantum technologies, particularly those intended for quantum key distribution (QKD) networks, where reliability and trustworthiness are paramount.
INRiM’s rigorous evaluation confirmed that Quantum Optics Jena’s photon source consistently produces high-quality entangled photons at two wavelengths, meeting all critical performance benchmarks for integration into real-world quantum communication systems. With this achievement, the company moves beyond laboratory research into the realm of deployable and trusted components—key building blocks for the secure quantum infrastructure of tomorrow.
Looking ahead, this certification marks a decisive step toward full system qualification and the realization of quantum-secure networks that governments, telecom providers, and critical infrastructure operators can confidently rely on. As CEO Kevin F. aptly stated, “Independent evaluation of our photon source demonstrates that we are serious about trust and security, not just performance.”
At SpectroNet, we take pride in seeing our network members push the boundaries of optical and quantum innovation. Quantum Optics Jena’s success exemplifies how collaboration, scientific rigor, and a commitment to excellence can shape the trusted quantum technologies of the future.
