Narrow Band Pass Filters (NBP) are a key component in optical instrument design. They are the critical element that ‘sensitizes or tunes’ the system to the chemical/element/gas being searched for.
A schematic for the role of the NBP filter is shown below.
The optical performance a visible narrow band filter is shown below, the filter is defined by its Centre Wavelength (CWL), its blocking zone is designed around the detector being used in the system.
Narrow band Filters are also increasing being used for detection in the IR, applications such as food security, food processing, industrial manufacturing, plastics sorting and gas detection to name a few. Some examples are given below.
Our Clusterpartner Vortex design and manufacture a wide range of custom NBP filters for visible and IR use from 350-5000nm, contact us today to discuss your requirements.
