Nerian Vision GmbH is a young start-up that specializes in the development, production and distribution of systems for real-time machine vision. The current focus of our work is on the extraction of depth data from stereoscopic images. By leveraging this technology, a pair of ordinary cameras can be turned into a rich 3D sensor.

The necessary algorithms for this work require vast amounts of computations. Hence, software implementations of these methods either require long processing times or deliver poor quality results. By implementing our entire image processing pipeline on an FPGA, we are able to achieve both, high processing rates and high quality.
