Competences

EVK, an expert company in industrial imaging, offers sensor-based solutions for bulk sorting and monitoring in the food, recycling, and mining industry.

EVK´s core competence is the classification and analysis of data using hyperspectral and inductive imaging technologies. EVK combines sensor technology and data analysis into application-specific solutions, and in this way provides valuable real-time data about the manufacturing process. EVK´s complete solutions range from data acquisition to data analysis to decision making. These solutions help customers in the industry to optimise their manufacturing processes, increase sorting depth and product quality, improve resource utilization and thus increase their profitability.

Hyperspectral imaging can classify objects and parts of them based on their chemical composition, which is not affected by the colour of the materials. This non-contact and non-destructive method can quantitatively measure chemical properties, such as dry matter, protein, sugar, calorific value, moisture, etc.

The combination of sensor technology and data analysis enables our customers to develop completely new solutions, processes and products. Technical support from EVKs Professional Service Team, starting with the concept idea through to commissioning and after-sales support, complete the portfolio of EVK as a total solution provider.

Products & Services

Hyperspectral Imaging with EVK HELIOS hyperspectral cameras
Hyperspectral cameras can classify objects according to their chemical composition, that is not affected by the colour of the materials. The human eye and colour cameras see visible light only in three bands (red, green, and blue), while hyperspectral cameras capture hundreds to thousands of spectral bands - making the invisible visible.
This contacless and non-destructive method quantitatively measures chemical properties such as: dry mass, protein, fat, sugar, salt, starch, moisture, oil, or calorific value.

Inductive Imaging with EVK ABAS ThinLine smart metal detector
Inductive Imaging senses the electrical and magnetic properties of different materials. The main application is the detection of both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Various metals can be detected and sorted out from a bulk flow.

Edge Computing Platform EVK ALPHA

EVK ALPHA is a real-time, embedded processing platform for classification of hyperspectral data. Together with an EVK HELIOS hyperspectral core camera, the system supports up to 100 material classes for identification of material types in industrial sorting and process-monitoring applications.

Data Analysis with EVK Software

EVKs software tools offer a variety of possibilities in industrial imaging. Due to the algorithms developed by EVK, the software system is able to access numerous options in multivariate data analysis. The software in combination with HELIOS hyperspectral imaging systems allows a non-invasive and interruption-free measurement of chemical concentrations of all objects in a product stream – bringing the lab into your line. Users will benefit from an intuitive and instructive modelling environment that enables for a fast start with EVK software solutions.

Sensor Fusion

Sometimes only a combination of various measurement techniques can deliver the results needed for a particular sorting application. EVK offers the software and hardware tools needed to combine all our imaging techniques into a single decision making Sensor-Fusion module that can logically couple the different classification results from various individual sensors. The unified classification result is computed in real-time and will steer the ejection unit appropriately. In this way measurements ranging from chemical composition, colour, electrical conductivity, size, structure and shape will improve the sorting accuracy for very complex applications.
