Control 2017 – New Dimensions in Quality Assurance

With 942 Exhibitors from 31 Countries More International than Ever
“Ten-Year Celebration of Quality Assurance” – the 31st Control at the Stuttgart Exhibition Centre from 9 through 12 May 2017 lived up to its status as a globally leading trade fair. This was confirmed by numerous exhibitors and the exhibitor advisory committee, which had only positive things to say about the way things went at the trade fair during the final meeting directly after the industry event.  The facts alone speak for themselves: 942 exhibitors from 31 countries, more than 560,000 square feet of overall exhibition floor space, 29,417 registered expert visitors from 106 countries, significant growth in exhibitor and visitor numbers as well as exhibition floor space amounting to nearly10%, numerous world’s firsts and innovative QA solutions which celebrated their premieres at the 31st Control, and more global recognition than ever before thanks to the fact that 27% of the visitors came from outside of Germany – Control is and remains the benchmark for all issues involving industrial quality assurance!

A Decade of Quality Expansion in Growth and Internationalism
Initiated in 1987 by private trade fair promoters P. E. Schall GmbH & Co. KG and brought to initial success at the trade fair venue in Sinsheim, steady and rapid growth continued after the event’s relocation to Stuttgart in 2007. But 10 years of Control at the Stuttgart Exhibition Centre are also 10 years of the Fraunhofer IPA Event Forum and 10 years of honouring recipients with the highly renowned Baden-Württemberg Award for Competence in Innovation and Quality – which taken together explains the term “ten-year celebration” used above ... especially in light of the fact that the 31st Control also experienced growth in exhibitor numbers and exhibition floor space of 10% and more, as well as an increase in the number of expert visitors of nearly 10%.

Global Recognition with 29,419 Expert Visitors from 106 Countries
But the superlatives don’t end here, because the 29,419 expert visitors who journeyed to Stuttgart from 106 countries demonstrated strong investment and procurement propensities, so that numerous exhibiting manufacturers and distributors reported concrete RFQs and highly interesting customer meetings. Above all various new exhibitors were especially impressed by Control’s business character, who rated their initial participation as a complete success and, as was also the case for many of the established exhibitors, spontaneously confirmed that they would once again take part at the Control international trade fair for quality assurance in 2018.

Competence Collaborations as Success Factors for the Business Platform
In addition to the 10th anniversary of the Event Forum held by the Fraunhofer IPA and the 10th conferment of the Baden-Württemberg Award for Competence in Innovation and Quality, which is sponsored by the TQU Group and trade fair promoters P.E. Schall GmbH & Co. KG in close cooperation and was awarded to Hobart GmbH in the “Company” category und Martin Hubschneider of CAS Software AG in the “Business Personality” category in 2017, the 31st Control was also characterised by the first ever presentation of new technologies and numerous product innovations resulting therefrom. Furthermore, the world-class supplementary programme held by time-tested collaboration partners including the Fraunhofer Vision Alliance (special show for contactless measuring technology), the DGQ (workshops), the “Business France” collective booth organised this year for the second time and last but not least the popular and, as always, fully booked programme offered by the Exhibitor Forum were met with lively demand, so that the Control can be deemed a completely successful QA industry meet for the year 2017.

At Control 2017 the European Machine Vision Association (EMVA) in partnership with trade show organizer P.E. Schall and supported by media partner inVISION organized the EMVA Forum ´Control Vision Talks´. First time offered in 2016 the high level of attendance and the very postive feedback from speakers immediately motivated the organising partners to continue this machine vision specific forum at the Control 2017. The presentations of this forum aim to educate the trade show visitor on benefits, applications and methods of machine vision and optical metrology solutions for factory automation.
